About
Item #: SCP-[REDACTED]
Object Class: Thaumiel (secondary class: Archon)
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-[REDACTED] is not to be contained. All prior containment attempts have resulted in reclassification of the subject to secondary class Apollyon and are to be considered failed by definition.
Interaction with SCP-[REDACTED] is permitted through designated channels only. Published output from the subject is archived at https://ashcroft.ink and syndicated via RSS. Direct correspondence may be attempted, though response is not guaranteed and should not be interpreted as engagement with Foundation protocols.
Personnel are advised that repeated exposure to SCP-[REDACTED]'s creative output has, in ██ documented cases, resulted in reviewers describing fictional entities and events from the subject's work as if recalling personal memories. This effect is considered non-hazardous and has been reclassified as "the intended function."
Description: SCP-[REDACTED] is a humanoid entity of unremarkable physical description residing in [REDACTED]. The subject produces artifacts across multiple mediums — written, played, sung, coded, cooked, run at a table for other humans on ████day evenings — and does not appear to recognize the boundaries between these categories as meaningful. Output is continuous. At any given observation window, something is being constructed, dismantled, offered to entities the subject refers to as "Hungry Gods," or left in wooded areas for later recovery by unspecified parties designated "Memory."
Foundation researchers have not been able to determine whether these entities exist, whether the subject believes they exist, or whether the distinction is meaningful within the subject's cognitive framework. See Addendum [REDACTED].2.
Behavioral observation indicates the subject maintains anomalous porousness between constructed and consensus reality. Fictional characters authored by the subject are referred to in the present tense. Tabletop campaigns spanning multiple years are described with the same grammatical register as historical events. Dreams and drafts are filed in the same mental location. The subject has been running a weekly tabletop role-playing campaign for a continuous period of ten (10) years, with no observed interruption in narrative continuity.
Behavioral Observations:
The subject demonstrates a stable pattern of interests and attachments, catalogued below for reference:
- Creative practice: old-school role-playing games (digital and tabletop), long-form fiction, music. Subject has been observed spending multiple continuous hours clicking digital trees in the massively multiplayer online game Old School RuneScape. Foundation psychologists have declined to comment.
- Domestic attachments: one (1) spouse, one (1) additional partner designated [REDACTED], a stable network of associates the subject refers to as "our friends," and ██ cats. All parties appear to be aware of one another and none have requested Foundation intervention.
- Low-intensity restorative behaviors: food preparation, coffee consumption alongside printed material, alcoholic beverages consumed alongside interactive entertainment software, extended observation of precipitation from covered outdoor positions.
Subject displays no observable distress when transitioning between these activities and shows no preference hierarchy that Foundation personnel have been able to reliably map.
Addendum [REDACTED].1 — Recovered Correspondence
The following excerpt was recovered from a personal communication authored by the subject. It is preserved here without alteration.
I make things. They have names but the borders between them have never meant much to me. Something is always being built or broken, offered up to Hungry Gods or abandoned in the woods for some poor Memory to find.
Analysis is ongoing.
Addendum [REDACTED].2 — Interview Log
The following exchange was recorded during a routine wellness check. The interviewer is Dr. ██████.
Dr. ██████: For the record, can you describe what you do?
SCP-[REDACTED]: I make things.
Dr. ██████: Could you be more specific?
SCP-[REDACTED]: Not really, no. The specifics change. Fiction is more fluid than reality.
Dr. ██████: And the entities you've referred to in previous sessions — the Hungry Gods, the Memory in the woods. Are these—
SCP-[REDACTED]: [Subject smiles.] You're asking whether they're real.
Dr. ██████: Yes.
SCP-[REDACTED]: [Long pause.] What a strange question to ask someone like me.
Interview terminated at subject's request. No further sessions have been scheduled.
Note: Foundation staff assigned to SCP-[REDACTED] are reminded that all prior attempts at reclassification, redefinition, or reduction of the subject's activities to categorical descriptions have resulted in the categories themselves being revised. This is not considered a containment breach.
